Press Release

"Crockdun" and "Moy" take Nordex past milestones in UK and Ireland

Manufacturer passes 1.5 GW installed and 2 GW sold in UK and Ireland

Hamburg, 1 June 2016. The second quarter saw Nordex achieve two significant milestones in UK and Ireland: ESB engaged the manufacturer to install five turbines for the "Crockdun" wind farm, taking Nordex past the 2 GW sold mark. In addition, with the commissioning of the "Moy" wind farm for Eneco, Nordex passed the 1.5 GW mark of installed capacity.

"Crockdun" will be Irish utility ESB's seventh wind farm with Nordex turbines. The manufacturer is supplying five N90/2500s with 65 hub height and a total output of 12.5 MW in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Nordex will assume responsibility for servicing the turbines for six years under a Premium full-service contract. With "Crockdun" on the order book the manufacturer has now sold more than 2 GW in the British Isles - 1.4 GW in the United Kingdom and 600 MW in the Republic of Ireland.

At the same time, having handed over the 20 N100/3300 turbines at "Moy" wind farm near Inverness to Dutch utility Eneco, Nordex has now passed the 1.5 GW mark for turbines in operation in the region.

Nordex has a workforce of almost 200 in UK and Ireland and has been active in these markets for over 15 years. Its regional headquarters are located in Manchester and Dublin with service points close to the operational farms. This entire region, with its sometimes demanding sites but very good wind conditions, offers considerable potential for Nordex, which has already successfully realised numerous complex projects in its more than 30 years of experience as a manufacturer.
